Study Habits

Who? Usagi? Study habits? You have got to be kidding! Ohahahahahahahahahaha! Ahem. Anyways, Usagi is not one of the greatest students in the world. Rarely does she get good grades. (How did she get into High School by the way? . . . Must have been through a great effort on Ami's part.)

The infamous score of 30 that Usagi got on the very first
episode.

One of the most noted parts of the anime that emphasizes Usagi's schoolwork is episode 103, She came. A small Pretty Soldier in the Super season. Chibiusa had once more arrived from the past, this time to be trained as a senshi. To explain what was going on, she gave a message from Neo-Queen Serenity to Minako to read.

When Luna remarked how much Neo-Queen Serenity was like Usagi, and Usagi demanded to know what she meant by that, Minako replied, "Neo-Queen Serenity really is like Usagi. There's no kanji in this letter!"

Kanji are language symbols, each standing for a different word, and is the main writing system. Kanji have to be memorized. Tith more than 20,000 symbols, it's a lot of kanji [*is forced to sit through younger sister's Japanese lessons; dies after three minutes* x.X]. When Ami looked over the letter, she said Neo-Queen Serenity had used the wrong kanji, and winded up erasing it; to which Rei remarked how Neo-Queen Serenity was too lazy to look it up in a dictionary--like Usagi! (This did not go over too well.)

Minako is showing everyone Neo-Queen Serenity's letter while
Usagi dances around wailing. 'But I hate studying!'

Minako noticed another note inside of the envelope that read: "PS to 20th century Usagi. I really should have studied when I was young. Please study hard." In reply, Usagi wailed about how much she hated studying.

Another really cute scene took place in an episode during the Stars season, I think. Usagi had created a small comic strip of Luna, and the inner senshi just tormented her on how she didn't use kanji like she was supposed to. Also, as you might have noticed me saying in the summery of her and Mamoru's love, Usagi's art skills leave much to be desired.

Besides always being late for class, Usagi would rather go over to Rei's temple and read all her manga, or draw pictures instead of doing her homework. One of the episodes in which she did exactly that was the R episode where she drew pictures of the tale of the Silver Millennium to show Mamoru in an attempt to help him regain his memory. Luna was not too happy upon learning this.

The exam paper that Usagi had tried hiding under her bed.

And there is no need to tell you about the very first episode where Usagi got a thirty. The result of that was a dreadfully upset mother (I have an animated gif of this in the animated gifs section). ^__^ This episode moment was repeated somewhat in the SuperS episode, Protect Mom's dream! Use the deadly weapons of Double Moon! In the beginning, Usagi comes skipping in, and what does she smell? Mom's famous lemon pie! Oh yummy! She runs in to see if there is some left for her but no, Chibiusa and Shingo ate all of it because it was a reward for their having 100 on their latest exams whereas Usagi only had 28% on the paper she hid under her bed. It was, of course, discovered by Mom. ^__^
