Mamoru's making fun of Usagi's intelligence!

It is no secret that these two, in the beginning of the series, started out hating one another. Being constantly at each other's throats, they would fight and bicker over things like Usagi being clumsy or Usagi being stupid or Mamoru being a big bully. And then they started to realize that there was something more about the other person.

Mamoru was the one who caught onto the difference almost immediately. In the manga, he over-heard Luna talking to Usagi, and knew that something interesting was going on. I loved that part! Usagi says, "So Luna, what do we do now?" And then Mamoru, who Usagi had not noticed until then, leans over and says, "Yes Luna, tell us."

In the anime, it was when he and Usagi were asked by Yumeno Yumemi (Peggy Jones, NA) to pose for a picture she was painting. They felt this odd sensation of familiarity of the whole thing. This was made the situation a little uncomfortable because Rei had been going out with Mamoru at the time.

That is going to hurt!

They discovered each other's identities on the episode where Mamoru had been wounded severely by Zoisite from an ice shard. Usagi had snuck up on him and wacked him on the very shoulder that was hurt (it was meant in jest). When Mamoru had cried out in pain, Usagi noticed the blood on her hand and on his jacket. She then doggedly followed after him as he went to meet up with Zoisite to exchange the nijizuishos (rainbow crystals).

Later in this episode, both find themselves trapped together in an elevator. Usagi has no choice but to transform, and so she did. mamoru found out about her, and then Zoisite attacked them. Tuxedo Kamen took the blow for Usagi.

Ah! Tuxie's hurt!

This led a showings of memories of the past. Usagi cried and hugged the unconscious Mamoru, due to the attack from Zoisite who took the seven nijizuishous. A tear formed into the ginzuishou as the nijizuishos joined (mutated? evolved?) with it.

But that horrible Queen Beryl stole Mamoru away from poor Usagi, and brainwashed him! Mamoru then becomes the Evil Prince Endymion.

Eh, and who is this strange person?

And now, Usagi must fight him even though it breaks her heart to. We all know that love triumphs over all in this part of the story as Usagi made Evil Prince Endymion remember as she held their locket out to him, so we shall just skip it. (I am feeling very lazy at the moment . . .) We shall go on to the rest of this story. In the first half of the R season in the anime, everyone lost their memories. The senshi recovered theirs by the help of Luna and her mindmeld, but Mamoru didn't. ;_;

Usagi tried so hard to make him remember as a mysterious figure appeared to fight for the affections of her heart. The Moonlight Knight (dubbed name; can't remember the Japanese name ^^;;), whose speeches are as corny as Tuxedo Kamen's. But, I won't complain. Gives us single ladies a longer chance of sighing over him. ^__^

But then to make matters worse for our bubbly blonde heroine, Ann (a vivacious alien and semi-main baddy of the season) competes for Mamoru's affections as her brother, Ail, pursues Usagi (more on this guy later).

Get some art lessons Usagi!

Usagi would do anything to get Mamoru to remember their love! Desperate enough to turn to her art skills (for want of a better word) to draw up the story of their love story back on the Moon Kingdom. Which was the most inexplicably sweetest scene of the first half of the R season! (Don't argue with me here! This is my opinion on my website!)

We later learn that the Moonlight Knight is the spiritual proof of Mamoru's love for Usagi. He so loved her that he wished to protect her with all his might, so his soul split into two (??? I know this might be confusing) and the one that left his body became the Moonlight Knight, sworn protector of Usagi. When the final battle between the Maikaju and its children came together, the Knight revealed his true identity. Then the Knight went back to Mamoru, who then recovered his memories.

Stars! *_* Ooooh!

And they all lived happily ever after . . . At least in that half of the season.

Usagi and Mamoru were going on a sweet walk--just the two of them together--in a park on a beautiful day. (aaaah!) This soon led to a romantic kiss . . . (eeew!) Which was cut short by a flash of pink (weee!). A little girl fell out of the skies into the arms of Mamoru, stealing Usagi's half of the kiss, knocking our hero to the ground.

Hey! Thief!

Besides being an annoying little girl who is almost too cute to hate (almost, but not quite), Chibiusa is also the physical proof of Usagi and Mamoru's love. She has a very *ahem* unusual relationship with her father, and does not get along with her mother all that very well in the first half of the season she shows up, going as far as pulling a gun on Usagi. Not a real gun, mind you. When Chibiusa pulled the trigger, a whole bunch of flowers popped out! It was kind of silly, really. But the reason why Chibiusa was there was because she was running from the Blackmoon, which was led by the Wiseman and Prince Demando, another contender for Usagi's heart.

Poor Luna! Boy, those two sleep so much alike!

As much as she found this child irritating, there was something about her that drew Usagi closer. Another reason for this was because Mamoru was starting to get these strange dreams of Usagi. In them, he was warned to stay away from her or bad things would happen. So he did.

And Usagi's heart was broken. ;_; Chibiusa knew that if they did not get together, she would never come into existence. So she began to work more with Usagi instead of against Usagi. When Chibiusa tried to go back home, the others soon learned that she was from the future, and they all set out to help her family.

Look at the color of their faces!

As most of you know, this soon led to knowing King Endymion, who sort of let it drop (ah, like a bomb) on whose love child Chibiusa was. ^__^

There were several moments throughout the seasons that could testify to the love of these two. The other seasons did not focus on their love as much as the R season did. So I will just skip along to the Sailor Stars season. (This is also because I'm not quite familiar with either the S season or the Super S season. ^__^)

Here we learn that Mamoru has gone to study abroad in America. Usagi cries to see him go, but he gives her a ring as he bids her farewell. As she clings to his arm, someone passes them. Something shot through his mind and he turned to see what it was, and the image of Usagi filled his eyes.

Usagi would not succumb to Seiya Kou's advances and obvious plays for her affections. Remaining steadfast and loyal to her love for Mamoru, she kept his image in her mind and her heart. And play back his answering machine's recording message to remember his voice. *sniff sniff* Especially when he would not answer her letters. And how heart-broken she was when she learned that he had died on the plane that was flying to America!

Sailormoon would sooner die than to face life without him. And she did, at one time. In the third manga volume she was forced to kill Evil Prince Endymion with her sword. Then she turned to the sword on her own bosom. After that, Queen Metallia, as a blob of something really ugly (o_O), passed over them, thinking they were dead.

Needless to say, Usagi is also very jealous of the attentions Mamoru gives other girls, such as the SuperS episode where Rei had ruined his apartment with a fire extinguisher. In apology because he had a college report due very soon, she invited him to stay with her at the temple.

This did not quite work out too well with Usagi; especially when she learned that Rei, accidentally, had entered the bathroom just as Mamoru hopped (naked) into the bathtub. More pressure was also due of Yuuichiru being jealous of Mamoru because he is secretly in love with Rei.

I told you to get the sheers!

In the second half of the Sailor Stars season, when (spoiler, highlight if you want to) Sailor Galaxia had killed Mamoru without Usagi's knowledge, Usagi ignored the attentions of Seiya Kou, staying true to her love and faithfully writing him letters all the time, even telling him about Seiya. There was that one attack one of the Metal Senshi launched against Sailormoon, and Seiya came to her rescue. However, Usagi, in her lonliness, mistook him and his cape for Tuzedo Kamen for a brief moment. *sniff sniff* That is one of my favorite scenes, though I think the saddest was seeing that cute little drawing of her with Mamoru upon her school desk.

Another one of my favorite scenes of Usagi's deep and abiding love for Mamoruy was when Usagi walked through cold snow barefoot, and through a thick patch of thorns, just to save Mamoru from the wicked clutches of Nephernia. That alone is proof of her love. How many of us would go through that to save our loved ones? Me, I would have run to get a pair of very large sheers to cut the thorns first, but the discussion here is not me.

And yet, through all of this, Usagi believes in Mamoru. She states to Chibi-usa when her daughter approached her with worries she has about Mamoru showing attention to a certain woman that their love was destiny and you cannot deny destiny. This may be so, still and all, Usagi has a very simple, very innocent belief in Mamoru that is extremely hard to deny.

Need I say more about these two?
